Bessie Louise Parris, known as Louise, was the second child of John Robert "Bob" Parris and Roena Anderson Parris. She was probably born in Dolomite Alabama, near Birmingham.

Her parents had left Hickman County, Tennessee and settled in Dolomite a year or two before Louise was born. Louise lived in Alabama for her entire life, mostly around Birmingham and Bessemer.

Bob and Roena Parris had four children. Louise had an older sister, Flora Pauline, and a younger brother, Kineth Iverson. Another girl, Kathleen, died at birth.

Roena died in 1908 when Louise was six. Bob married again in 1910, to Clytie Hinton. Bob and Clytie had two daughters: Louise's half sisters Janet Grace (known as Grace), and Frances Elinor.

On September 8, 1918, Louise married James Ratliff in Jefferson County, Alabama. The marriage was short, because James died from influenza four months later. When he died, Louise was also sick. She almost died, but then recovered.

Louise married again in 1922, to James Thurman Jennings, known as J. T. or Thurman. Louise and Thurman married on April 22 in Birmingham. They had three sons, all of whom later married and had children.

In April, 1953, James Thurman Jennings died. In October, 1958, Louise married again to Samuel Posey Carmack (known as Posey). Louise and Posey were married in Birmingham.

Louise and Posey did not have children. Like Louise, Posey had adult children from an earlier marriage. Posey's first wife had also died.

Posey died in 1971. For some time, Louise remained at their house in Birmingham. She later moved to a seniors apartment in Bessemer.

With age, Louise's health declined and she could no longer live alone. Around 1982, she moved to a nursing home in Talladega, Alabama. She was close to one of her sons in Childersburg.

Louise died on October 4, 1995 in Talladega. She is buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. She is buried beside her second husband James Thurman Jennings.
