East Monroe Woman Dies During Movie
Tobitha Keesberry
Mrs. Tobitha Keesberry, 84, of East Monroe, had never attended the theater since talking motion pictures were introduced to the screen but had often expressed a desire to do so.
Friday, with her sister, Mrs. Catherine Pigeon, also of East Monroe and Mrs. Pigeon’s son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Linton, near Bowersville, she went to Xenia to see and hear her first “talkie.”
A few minutes after the four entered the Orpheum Theater, Mrs. Keesberry became ill and was rushed to McClellan Hospital where she died at 8:20 P.M. Friday.
H. C. Schick, coroner of Greene County, said death was caused by heart disease.
Services were held Monday at 2:30 P.M. at the Walker Funeral Home in Greenfield with burial in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Rev. C. A. Arthur of Leesburg officiated.
In addition to her sister, Mrs. Pigeon, she is survived by one brother, formerly of the Marshall community.
