Jerry C. Diederichs age 80, of 3410 Fleetcrest Court. Manitowoc, died Friday evening, Sept. 17, 2010, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center of Manitowoc.

Jerry was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Manitowoc, son of the late Harry and Violet Behnke Diederichs. He grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1948 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1951-53, receiving the Bronze Star. After his service in the Army, Jerry attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. On Dec. 26, 1951, Jerry was married to the former Judy A. Madson at First Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Jerry was the owner of Crafts Electric for many years, retiring in 1999. He was the former
commissioner of the Manitowoc Public Utilities, a member of the board of directors for the past 18 years of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, former member of the National Electrical Contractors Association of the State of Wisconsin and a member of First Lutheran Church, where he served the congregation in many capacities.

Survivors include his wife: Judy Diederichs of Manitowoc; three sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff (Sandra) Diederichs of Manitowoc and their children: Steven Diederichs, Daniel Diederichs, Ashlee (Joshua) Heimerl; Jon (Missy) Diederichs of Manitowoc and their children: Shannon Diederichs and Shane Diederichs; Jason (Kimberly) Diederichs f Grafton and their son: Cody Jacob Diederichs; one sister and brother-in-law: Marlene (Daniel) McKenna of Wausau; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Joan Skeels of Manitowoc; Jule "Jack" (Suzanne) Madson of Wrightstown, N.J.; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Violet Diederichs, and one brother-in-law, Jay Madson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the First Lutheran Church, 521 N. Eighth St. Manitowoc, with the Rev. Ronald
Harswick officiating, with burial of his cremated remains to follow in the Gjerpen Cemetery in the town of Cato. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

The Jens Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Diederichs family.
