Veloris Jane Sutton was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, co-worker and friend. Jane went to be with her Lord on May 25, 2015 at the age of 94.

Jane was born into the home of Willis Sylvander Beaman and Anna Katherine Katt. She grew up in Burke, South Dakota until she moved to Yakima, WA in 1937 to live with her sisters after the passing of her parents. She graduated from Yakima High School in 1939. She lived most of her life in Yakima.

Jane worked in Yakima at Grant’s, J.C. Penny, Yakima Evangelical Church, and Child Evangelism Fellowship. She supported the ministries of the Yakima Evangelical Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and the Union Gospel Mission in the community. After her retirement she also volunteered as a reading tutor and assisted at the Volunteer Bureau.

On September 9, 1939 she married Russell Sutton and they raised three children, George, Susan and John. Jane and Russell “adopted” the family of Jim and Janey Warner to be a part of their family. She enjoyed encouraging them in so many ways throughout their lives.

Jane enjoyed cooking, knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading. She prayed daily for her family. Jane was a long-time member of the Yakima Evangelical Church and was involved in a variety of ministries of the church.

Jane was the last of her 10 brothers and sisters to pass away. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Russell and her daughter Susan. She is survived by her son George (Grace) and his daughters Cheryl Woods and Rinda LaSage, and son, John (Dianna) and their sons Karl and Gregg. She is also survived by Susan’s children, Elizabeth Robinson (Lee) and their two daughters and Joel Robinson (Beth) and their daughter. Jane had 11 great grandchildren.

The family invites friends to a celebration of her life that will be held on Friday, July 3rd at the Living Care Retirement Community auditorium at 40th and Summitview in Yakima beginning at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial gift to the Yakima Evangelical Church, Yakima Child Evangelism Fellowship, Yakima Union Gospel Mission or to a charity of your choice. Thank you.

Special thanks to the staff of The Hawthorne House in Forest Grove, OR who went above and beyond in her final days to keep her comfortable. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family. Online condolences may be left at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
