Mrs. Phoebe Craft Long, widow of the late Richard S. Long, deceased, died at her home, corner of Richhill and Wayne streets, Tuesday evening, June 22, at 10:13, aged 75 years and 28 days, of a complication of diseases. She had been in failing health for several months. Mrs. Long was born in Cumberland township, Greene county, May 24, 1840, being the daughter of the late J. K. and Delilah Baily. She was united in marriage to Richard S. Long, Dec. 4, 1861 and his death occurred Nov. 1, 1904. She had resided in Waynesburg for the past fifteen years. Always cheerful in disposition and showing a spirit of kindness toward everyone, she gained many friends, by whom she was highly esteemed. She was a kind and devoted mother. In her youth she united with the Muddy Creek Cumberland Presbyterian church and gave of her means toward its support. Of her four children three are now living: J. Calvin Long, of Khedive; Mrs. Annie L. Garard, wife of Jesse L. Garard, of Whiteley; Mrs. Nellie V. Sturgis, wife of E. G. Sturgis, of East Liverpool, O. One son, Milton, died in infancy. In her parents' family of seven children, Mrs. Long's death is the first to occur. Her surviving brothers and sisters are: Mrs. Zillah Riddle, W. C. Baily and Mrs. Elmira Rinehart, of Carmichaels; J. M. Baily, of Limon, Colo.; Mrs. Clara Hawkins, wife of J. W. Hawkins, Waynesburg, and J. K. Baily, Jr., of Dayton, O.
