Lavon was the second oldest of six daughters born to Linus James and Martha (Meiers) Huntress. She had one older half-brother as well.

She married Wayne Schultze on February 12, 1949.

While their children were young she worked in the kitchen of the local schools. She also added money to the household budget by ironing.

Lavon loved to listen to Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty. One of her favorite programs, besides soap operas, was Little House on the Prairie. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, creating hundreds of wonderful pieces. She collected anything with apples or pigs. Lavon was also known among family and friends for her homemade Mexican salsa.

Her and her husband loved to go camping in the California desert. Lavon would tear up the dirt trails on her little Honda 70.

Her family remembers her always being there to listen to whatever their problems were. She offered advice and encouragement to them when needed. Her home cooked meals were always comforting.

She passed away peacefully, leaving behind her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert (Bobby) , and her husband, Wayne.
