Oscar Theodore (O.T.) Anderson was born in Marshall Township, Mower County on September 7, 1897 to Peter A. and Mattie (Olson) Anderson.

O.T. lived in the Adams area his entire life. He attended the Adams Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1920. He assisted his father in the family farming operation until he purchased the Wagner and Knutson Hardware Store in Adams in 1929. Despite a start during the depression he succeeded in operating a successful retail hardware business for 36 years, retiring January 1, 1965. In 1961, he was honored by the National Propane Corporation for 30 years of service as a Shellane Dealer.

He was active in community affairs, serving on the Village Council, Volunteer Fire Department and the Adams Commercial Club which honored him in 1966 for "Many years of Outstanding Service to the Business Community."

He was baptized and confirmed in Little Cedar Lutheran Church and was in the first class to confirmed in the recent Little Cedar structure. He has been a faithful and active lifetime member, serving his church in many ways, the most recent of which was the recording of a new historic record for the Little Cedar Cemetery.

O.T. was married to Alice Helen Bohn on June 1, 1929 by Pastor Alfred Brevik. Two daughters and one son were born to this union, Joyce, Owen and Janice.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Anderson of Adams; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Joyce) Halver of Overland Park, Kansas, and Mrs. Janice Robinson of Newport Beach, California; a son, Owen T. Anderson of Lewisburg, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; a sister Mrs. H.A. (Jessie) Johnson of Webster, South Dakota; two brothers Merrill of Richfield, Mn., and Edward of Adams; nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 1978, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams with Rev. Allen Gunderson officiating. The organist was Mrs. David Anderson. Interment was in Little Cedar Cemetery.

Honorary bearers were Oscar Bergene, Bernard Hukee, Wallace Johnson, Joy Nelson, Herb Osmundson and Robert Roy. Bearers were James Bohn, Kenneth Combs, Terrence Halver, Richard Hueman, Mark Huntley and Lloyd Osmundson.

He thoroughly enjoyed life, his family and many friends and will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.
