Heavy Metal Musician. He was the lead singer of the popular Norwegian heavy metal band "Windir". Originally formed as one man project, 'Valfar' as he was known to his legion of fans, Bakken released two albums at first by himself including, "Sognariket", and "Det gamle nket." In 2001, Bakken decided to add a full band to the lineup and recorded the album, "1184" with his new bandmates and another group, Ulcus. The album was recorded in the Sognamal language, a dialect of Norwegian. The group later switched and began recording in the English language to have a wider audience. There fourth album entitled, "Likferd" was released on Head Not Found Records in July of 2003. On January 14, 2004, Bakken went for a walk to his family's cottage in Fagereggi, Norway, but he never made it there. His body was found three days later on January 17 in the Sogndal Valley near the town of Reppastolen. His death at the young age of 25, was attributed to hypothermia after being caught in a snow storm. Some of Windir's recordings include, "Black New Age", "Destroy", "Heidra", "On The Mountain Goats", "Journey To The End", "The Spiritlord", "Dance Of Mortal Lust", "and "Todeswalzer."
