Barbara Owens DeLoach BLUFFTON - Barbara Owens DeLoach passed on to rest at the feet of her Lord in Heaven and into the welcome embrace of her beloved husband, Cartha D. "Deke" DeLoach with whom she was married for 68 years. Barbara is survived by her seven children: Barbie Lancaster, Deke Jr. (Donna), Tom, Theresa, Greg (Sherin), Sharon Bleifeld (Marty) and Mark (Shea) and has left them to find their own paths to join their loving parents one day. These paths are made much easier because of Barbara's life of unconditional love and devotion to her family. Barbara's devotion to God and her daily example of quiet strength and faith gave rise to her nickname "St. Barbara". In fact, her children, their spouses and significant others, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild all think that they will ride through the gates of Heaven on St. Barbara' s coattails. During the last few years, Barbara's favorite word in response to most questions was "whatever". It was not dismissive of the questions asked of her but because she sought nothing for herself and completely trusted God in any decisions that needed to be made. Her joy was found in the happiness of others. She wanted nothing in life other than to give and hoped she would never be a burden to anyone. Far from a burden, she was a Godsent blessing that those close to her will treasure all of their lives. In her last days, Barbara was surrounded by her children and asked about the well-being of her lifelong friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church Wednesday, November 9 at 10:30 AM. A private burial will be held at Six Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, please carry on Barbara's example by praying for someone in need, be gentle in your words and deeds, and do something nice for at least one person each day of your life. Arrangements by The Island Funeral Home & Crematory. www.islandfuneralhome.com.
