"Sahar Mostaghasi, 24, and her 12-year-old twin siblings - Negin, a girl, and Sepehr, a boy - died after the 2006 Toyota Corolla that Sahar Mostaghasi was driving north on Cimarron Boulevard was struck on the driver's side by a van at the Brockhampton Street intersection on Saturday. Another brother, Morteza, 16, who was a front passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial in fair condition after the wreck.

His father, Alireza Mostaghasi, said Monday that Morteza is doing well.

The driver of the 1998 Dodge Caravan, Scott Ryan Helgerson, 19, was charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle.

Helgerson, who had cuts on his head and complained of back pain, showed evidence of alcohol intoxication, police said. He remained in Nueces County Jail last night on bonds of $62,500 for each charge.

Alireza Mostaghasi said he and his wife haven't been the same since the loss of their children.

"Every time I walk in here (the home) and see their pictures, I start looking for the kids," he said, adding that New Year's Day wasn't the same. "Everything is so different."
