YAKIMA - Donald (Don) Lee Rogers, born September 27, 1943, the eighth of ten children born to John and Ella Rogers in Powersite, Missouri, passed December 29, 2006. The greater part of his 63 years was spent in Yakima. He graduated from Davis High School where his talent as a pitcher led him to continue his love for the game through the semi-pro league prior to his service in the United States Air Force.

His athletic skills served him well throughout his life as he fine-tuned his passion for the game of golf. His love for the game connected him with life-long friends, who together enjoyed the camaraderie of the sport at Apple Tree, Westwood and a variety of courses throughout the Northwest.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty, daughter Donnelle Cross and husband Shannon of Spokane, WA, grandchildren Ryun and Ella, daughter Erin Walsh and husband Pat of Spokane, WA, brother George (Esther) Rogers, sister Virginia (Wayne) Kirby, sister Beth (Gilbert) Miller, brother John Rogers, brother Jim (Debra) Rogers, brother Steve Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother Cliff Rogers, his sisters, Sybil Akins and Lois Journagan.

Viewing will be Wednesday and Thursday, 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

A celebration of Don's life is Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, 9 South 8th Avenue, Yakima, WA at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the Davis Golf Team through the Yakima Junior Golf Program, c/o Yakima Federal Savings and Loan, 7105 Orchard Park, to benefit a program which will carry Don's name for young men and women who may not otherwise have the opportunity to connect to the sport, or to a charity of choice.

The Rogers family extends its heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ha and the team at the North Star Lodge for their compassion and care throughout Don's cancer journey, and for our wide network of friends who came along side of us through prayers and personal touches of friendship.

Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
