From The Monitor Review, February 20, 1975:

Norma Irene Ulven was born September 24, 1904, to Carrie and Ole E. Ulven at Adams, Minnesota. She passed away February 13, 1975 at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, Minnesota at the age of seventy.

Irene was baptized and confirmed at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams. She was a lifelong member of Little Cedar.

She graduated from Adams High School in 1924. In 1926, she moved with her parents to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Irene Ulven and Lloyd Uglum were united in marriage April 12, 1927 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1928, they moved to their farm north of Adams. They had two sons, Dennis, and a son who died in infancy.

Irene was active in Circle, ALCW and church - ready to share her talents, particularly music, with others. She was a past president and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Adams Community Club.

Surviving are her husband, Lloyd; one son Dennis; one sister, Mrs. Alice Tucker of Minneapolis; one brother, Fred A. Ulven of Rose Creek; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, her parents, and four brothers, Edward, Emer, George and Carmie Ulven.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 17, 1975, at 1:30 p.m. at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Rev. Wayne Quibell officiating. Mrs. Marjorie Meier was organist, and music was provided by Rev. and Mrs. Quibell. Interment was at Little Cedar Cemetery, Adams, with Kenneth Marsh, Frederick Ulven, Wilbur Johnson, Bernard Merten, Roy Torgerson, and Conrad Schissel serving as pallbearers. The Adams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Irene will be missed by her family and many friends. Our world is never the same after the loss of dear ones.

A pretty wedding took place Tuesday evening, April 12th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. C. Ulven, Sioux Falls, S.D. when their sister, Miss Norma Irene Ulven, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Ulven, became the bride of Mr. Lloyd J. Uglum of Adams. The ceremony was read by Rev. H.J. Glenn. Miss Alice Uglum was the attendant. Mr. Jens L. Uglum attended his brother.
