Born Eugene Michael Guarilia, he attended Holy Rosary High School in Duyrea, Pennsylvania and later played collegiate basketball at George Washington University. Selected by Boston during the 2nd round of the 1959 NBA Draft, he totaled 129 career regular season games. He was fortunate to play with the Celtics during the most successful run of the team's history, as he experienced four world championships. After retiring from basketball, he worked as a teacher in his native Pennsylvania.
