Born in East Los Angeles, California, he was the son of Lydia S Galindo and Charles Hernandez. Shortly after high school graduation, Robert entered the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. After discharge in 1980, he returned to Fresno and was married to Selena "Nina" Basham on November 21, 1981. They had two daughters; Nina Rochelle and Corina Atheen.
Robert was predeceased by his father, Charlie Hernandez and nephew Anthony Martinez. He is survived by his mother, Lydia Verdugo; his wife Selena; two daughters, Nina and Corina; four grandchildren, Alec Anthony, Allie Jade, Noah Jae and George Jacob; three sons in law; three sisters; one brother and two wonderful sisters in law.
