Marie was born in Blasheim, Westfalen Prussia on 15 Dec 1845. She was baptized on 21 Dec 1845. She married August John Hoevel on October 5, 1865 in St. Louis, Missouri. To this union five known children were born: William Otto 1870-1918, Emelie C 1871-1931, Pauline L 1873-1925, Edwin L 1877-1938 and Arthur Louis 1878-1964. Maria Louise tragically died from childbirth complications following the birth of Arthur. Her husband, August John Hoevel, married Mary Louise Schrader May 15, 1879 in St Louis. Marie was interred originally at Salem Cemetery. It is believed her remains were removed to Bellefontaine when Salem ceased as a cemetery.
