Susie Alberta Fitzpatrick was born in Boyce, Virginia on November 12, 1931 to parents Reverend Hebert and Willie Belle Johnson.

She graduated from Douglas High School in Winchester, Virginia. She graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing with a Degree as a Registered Nurse in 1954. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1955 and worked at University Hospital Hanna Pavilion.

In 1957, she wed and shared a beautiful marriage with the late Bishop Oney D. Fitzpatrick Sr., to this union was born one child, Oney Dante Fitzpatrick Jr.

Susie lived her life in service to her God and others; always looking for the chance to be a blessing to people whether it was flying the friendly skies to aid in the care of family or friends; or being a prayer partner to someone needing spiritual and /or motherly support. She loved growing in the Word and celebrated the goodness of God at every given opportunity.

Her favorite pastimes were reading, enjoying the friendship and fellowship of close friends at her senior living community complex and sharing time with her children sitting poolside at their home. She was blessed to travel extensively which included trips to East Africa, West Africa, Japan, Martinique, Korea, French West Indies, Jamaica, Morocco and Haiti.

After moving to Port Arthur, Texas 10 years ago, she united with the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas where Rev. Donald R. Frank, Sr. is Senior Pastor. Her life was her eulogy, so this time together is only a reflection of how much God loves us by gracing us with her life and presence.

Her parents, husband and eight siblings proceeded in her death. She leave to cherish her thoughts and memories, Oney Dante’ Fitzpatrick and her daughter –in-law Cheryl whom she affectionately referred to as her “daughter”; granddaughter Epiphany M. Fitzpatrick; one sister, Emma Lewis; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends too numerous to name.

Graveside service will be held on June 24, 2014 in the Chapel of Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, Ohio, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Bishop Suratt of Maryland is going to give words of comfort.
