US Congressman. He was born one of nine children to Peter Ihrie Sr. and Elizabeth Koechlein Ihrie in Easton, Pennsylvania. He was educated locally and completed preparatory studies. He then attended and graduated from the prestigious Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and graduated from there in 1815. Following his education, he studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1818 and commenced his practice of law in his birthplace of Easton, Pennsylvania. On May 9, 1822, he married Camella Alhanasca Ross (her father was United States Representative John Ross (1770-1834), and her uncle was United States Representative Thomas Ross (1806-1865), in Easton, Pennsylvania, and the couple would have two children together (Elizabeth Koechlein Ihrie was born in 1826, and Ross R. Ihrie Sr. was born in 1828). He then served as a Charter Member of the Board of Trustees of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, in 1826 and again in 1827. He also served as a Member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives from 1826 to 1827. He then decided to run for a seat in the United States Congress and was elected to as a Jacksonian Candidate to fill the vacancies caused by the resignation of United States Representative George Wolf and United States Representative Samuel Delucenna Ingham. A Member of the Jacksonian Party, he then served Pennsylvania's 8th District (Twenty-First Congress) in the United States House of Representatives from 1829 to 1833. He was then again reelected as a Jacksonian Candidate to the United States Congress for a second term. A Member of the Jacksonian Party, he then served Pennsylvania's 8th District (alongside United States Representative Samuel A. Smith-Twenty-Second Congress) in the United States House of Representatives from 1829 to 1833. After his term in the United States Congress expired on March 3, 1833, he was succeeded in office by United States Representative Henry King and United States Representative Samuel A. Smith, and they both served from March 4, 1833, to March 3, 1835. He then served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Easton Bank in Easton, Pennsylvania. In 1841, his wife Camella passed away at the age of 40. He later married for a second time to Elizabeth M. Roberts, but the couple had no children. He lastly served as a Brigadier General of the Pennsylvania State Militia in 1845. He then resumed his practice of law and also became involved in real estate. In 1860, he was living and working as an Attorney At Law in Bushkill, Pennsylvania, and his personal estate value was listed at $60000 and his real estate value was listed as $80000. He passed away on March 29, 1871, at the age of 75, in Easton, Pennsylvania, and was buried in the Easton Cemetery in that city.
