Born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Grandpa Curly was the first child of Ernest Arthur Morlidge and Olive Bessie Chamberlain. At the age of five, his mother passed away and the family lived as a single-parent household for three years. In 1929, his father married Hannah Smith and Ernest Arthur would soon have eight more children. With the outbreak of World War Two, Curly and his brother Arthur joined the Canadian Armed Forces. Curly joined the Army and served as a Staff Sergeant at the Canadian Army Trades School until the end of the war while Arthur enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was killed in action in 1942. In 1941, he married his first wife, Florence Neville, and would have two sons, Edward and Gerald, however the marriage would not last, as she would suddenly leave her husband and sons sometime around 1944/1945. He would later find love again when he met and married his second wife, Mary Alberta Allan, a marriage that lasted until her death in 1981. Sometime after Mary's death, Curly would meet and marry his third wife, June, and they would remain together until her death in 1998. Grandpa Curly passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 86 and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
