YAKIMA - John Rogers, 74, of Yakima, WA, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born February 17, 1938, to John and Ella Rogers, in Forsyth, MO.

John attended both Highland and then West Valley high schools and served in the US Air Force immediately after. He was involved in sports throughout his life. He was a big fan of the Mariners and Seahawks. At 15, he coached his younger brother's little league baseball team.

He met the love of his life, Loyce, in 1967 and they were married that same year, in Coeur d'Alene, ID. The most important thing in his life was his family. He enjoyed golf, fishing, horse races, and working at Westwood West Golf Course.

John worked as a sign screen printer, which later led him to open his own business of 30 years, John Rogers Screen Printing.

John will always be remembered for his second home, The Powerhouse Grill of Yakima, WA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loyce; four brothers, Cliff, George, Don, Steve; sisters, Sybil and Lois.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen (Buster) Hodges of Fritch, TX; sisters, Virginia (Wayne) Kirby and Beth (Gilbert) Miller both of Yakima, WA; brother, Jim (Debra) Rogers of Yakima; sister-in-law, Esther Rogers and Betty Rogers and brother-in-law, Ralph Journagan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in John's name may be made to Yakima Junior Golf, c/o Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18 and Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20th at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21st at Open Bible Christian Church, 2700 W. Lincoln Ave. in Yakima.
