August W. "Gustie" (Johannessohn) Germolus age 96 of Crosby died on January 5, 2017 at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby. She was born on December 2, 1920 at the family farm in Borup, MN to Carl and August (Scherf) Johannessohn. She was baptized February 13, 1921 and confirmed June 18, 1933 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ada, MN. She attended school in Borup and Moorhead State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools in Norman County, at Isle, MN; at Mount Calvary Lutheran School in Bloomington; and Central Lutheran School in St. Paul.
Gustie married Gustav Germolus on July 16, 1950 in Ada, MN. They resided on the farm at Borup until 1968, when they moved to Deerwood.. She enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, flowers and sewing. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Crosby; a Sunday-School teacher, organist and part of the ladies aid.
Gustie is survived by one brother, Norval Johannessohn of Ft Wayne, ID; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gustie in death are her parents; her husband in 1993 and three brothers, Leo, Carl and Clarence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Ada Cemetery in Ada, MN on Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Island Camp, 45011 230th Street, Henning, MN 56551.
