Arlene Anna Arner, 92, of Boise died Wednesday, Jan. 17, in St. Alphonsus Hospital after a brief illness. She had resided at Valley View Health Care for the past six months. She was born June 13, 1914 in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County, in Eastern Pa., the daughter of Oliver and Flossie Eberts. She grew up on a farm and attended local schools. In 1933 she married Willard J. Arner, also of West Penn, and for many years they operated a family-owned fruit-growing and packing business, Sunnyside Orchards, in West Pa. In 1957 they moved to Florida, where they owned and operated citrus groves in northern Pinellas County and resided in Dunedin. Her husband died in 1997. In 2002 she relocated to Scotts Valley, Calif., and later to Boise to live near one of her children. Throughout her life she was a dedicated homemaker and cook in the Pennsylvania Dutch farm tradition. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Keeton of Charlotte, N.C., and Carolyn Cornett of Inverness, Fla.; two sons, Kenneth Arner of Ocala, Fla., and Eugene Arner of Boise; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Koons of Orwigsburg, Pa. Local funeral arrangements are private under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Safety Harbor, Fla.
