Carter was the third born son of Railroad heiress/fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt and the first born to Author/ Screenwrite Wyatt Cooper. He was a graduate of Dalton High School as well as Princeton University. Mr. Cooper was working at American Heritage Magazine at the time of his untimely death.
