George H. Edgell, 83, died Jan. 29, 2007, at his daughter's residence in Zionsville after an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Tipton, the son of Homer and Mary (Siebold) Edgell, and resided in Alexandria area for the past 43 years.

George served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asia Pacific Theater and was the recipient of three bronze stars. George was discharged in 1946 as a staff sargeant. He retired form Delco Remy as plant foreman in 1982 after 40 years of employment. He had been ProShop manager at Yule Golf Course in Alexandria for 25 years. He was a 30 year member of the Frankton American Legion Post 439, 23 yer member of Alexandria Elks # 478, a 19 year mamber of Anderson Veterans of Foreign Wars Posst 266 and a member of Alexandria Eagles Lodge 1771.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa(Scott) Travis, Zionsville; Granddaughter, Eryn Travis, Zionsville and a grandson, Cameron Travis of Zionsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Edgell; brothers, Jim,Bruce and Russell Edgell;a sister, Thelma(Edgell) Garrison.

Pastor Jerry Young of Christian Congreation in allexandria offficiating. Military honors provided by Elwood VFW post 5782 Color Guard.
