Marlene L. Williams, age 74, of Marion died at 1:30 am on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born in Marion, Ohio, on June 25, 1931, the daughter of the late Paul and Fern (Orians) Jolliff. Marlene was a graduate of Marion Harding in the Class of 1949.
On February 6, 1955, Marlene married her loving husband of over 46 years, Jerry L. Williams in Marion, and he preceded her in death on November 9, 2001.
For many years, Marlene worked as a clerk for the Marion City Health Department.
Marlene was an active member and deacon at the Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Mobile Meals, and the Parent Teacher's Association Clothing Locker for years.
A huge sports fan, Marlene was especially fond of baseball; watching every game her son ever played and watching her favorite Cincinnati Reds play any chance she got. As a family they greatly enjoyed even vacationing to watch the Reds.
Very caring by nature, Marlene put the needs and wants of her family first, spoiling her son and grandchildren giving them virtually anything they wanted. Her care did not stop with her family, she was very compassionate and loved giving to and helping others. With the gift of gab, Marlene never met a stranger.
Marlene is survived by one son Jeff L. Williams of Marion; four granddaughters Bethany, Emily, Abigail and Alicia all of Marion; a brother Rev. Larry (Betty) Shephard of Saginaw, Michigan; a sister Shirley (Rick) Winfield of Marion; and many extended family members.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her son Mark Williams.
