Francis E. "Rocky" Hagerman Sr., of McSherrystown, entered into God's eternal care February 7 in New Oxford.

He was the son of the late Francis and Gertrude (Gallagher) Hagerman.

Rocky was retired from the former Sylvania Shoe Co. in McSherrystown, and he and his wife were the founders of Rocky's Soft Ice Cream in McSherrystown in 1984.

He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown; the McSherrystown Moose, where he was past governor and a pilgrim; American Legion in Hanover; VFW in Hanover; Hanover AMVETS; a life member of the McSherrystown Home Assoc.; the former McSherrystown Fire Co., currently SAVES; a charter member of the McSherrystown Fish & Game Assoc.; and he was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII.

He was the husband of Rita M. (O 'Donnell) Hagerman, who departed this life February 26, 1996, and surviving are five children, Francis E. "Rocky" Hagerman, Jr. of McSherrystown, John E. Hagerman, Dennis J. Hagerman, Kathy Bowman, and Teresa Yantis all of Hanover; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte V. Hagerman of McSherrystown.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Rodney Smith; three grandchildren, Douglas Smith, David Smith, and Andrew Anderson; a brother, Joseph Hagerman; and by three sisters, Loretta Birgensmith, Gertrude Snyder, and Rosemarie Bowman.
