US Congressman. He completed his education in the schools of Staten Island (Richmond County), studied law, and became an attorney. Tyson saw military service during the War of 1812. From 1811 to 1822 he was Town Supervisor of Castletown. He was Richmond County Judge from 1822 to 1840. In 1822 he was elected to the US House of Representatives and served one term, 1823 to 1825. Tyson did not run for reelection in 1824, and served as a New York State Senator in 1828.
