US Congressman. He relocated to New York and settled in Batavia, Genesee County (now Attica, Wyoming County). He was a Cavalry Captain in the War of 1812, seeing combat in several battles on the New York-Canada border. He became active in several business ventures, including a store and a mill, and also served as Postmaster. Wilson served in the New York Assembly from 1816 to 1817 and the New York Senate from 1818 to 1821. From 1821 to 1823 Wilson was Judge of the Genesee County Court. In 1822 he was elected to the US House of Representatives and served from March 1823 until January 1824, when Parmenio Adams successfully contested the election results and took Wilson's seat. Wilson returned to Genesee County and served as County Court Judge again from 1830 to 1836. Wilson then moved to Illinois, where he founded a new community he named after his hometown in New York. He served as Batavia, Illinois, Postmaster from 1841 to 1846.
