The brother of actor Christopher McDonald, he was a native of New York City and trained at the Actors Studio and at the Royal Academy of Art in London. He appeared on Broadway in "Mamma Mia!", "High Society", and "Contact", and had roles in several films, notably "The Falcon And The Snowman" (1985), "Home Fries" (1987), "Bound By Honor" (1993), "Jaded" (1996), "The Ice Storm" (1997), and "Tempting Adam" (2004). He also made frequent guest appearances on TV. McDonald passed away at the age of 46, from brain cancer.
