Professional Baseball Player. He played in the Major Leagues from 1906 to 1916. Hartzell batted left-handed but threw right-handed, and played second base, third base, shortstop, and outfield during his career. Beginning with the St. Louis Browns in April, 1906, he played in 1,290 games with a life-time batting average of .252. He was traded to the New York Highlanders, which then became the New York Yankees. In 1911 he had 91 RBI, a record for the Yankees, and that same year on July 12 he drove in a total of 8 runs in one inning, a record that stood for 22 years.
