Daughter of Dr. Samuel Boykin, Jr. and Laura Josephine Nisbet. She was born at the residence of her grandfather, Judge Eugenius A. Nisbet. It was recorded that at the age of 3 , she was able to quote the Ten Commandments and several chapters from the Book of Psalms.

She was educated at Shorter College in Rome, GA and authored 2 Books: The first, a brief memoir of hyperesthesia, was inspired during her sickness when her mother told her while she lie in bed to make believe she had no spine; thus came the title " Annals of an Invertebrate." Her 2nd book covered her favorite Poet "Home Life of Sidney Lanier." A single poem was published titled, "A Dear Diablesse."

Throughout her lifetime, she suffered an extended illness of neurasthenia (exhaustion of the central nervous system). She was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and died six months later at the age of 28.
