Memorial service for CHARLES NELSON, 72, of Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Western Hills Church of Christ, with Harley Davidson, minister, officiating.
Mr. Nelson died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at his home.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Becker Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Cameron, Texas, to Henry William and Frances Burts Nelson. He married Gloria Gonzalez on Sept. 30, 1954, in Waco, Texas. He served three years in the National Guard and two years in the Army. He was employed at Wilson Wholesale for 24 years. He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company from 1979 until his retirement in 1994. He was a charter member of Western Hills Church of Christ, where he was a deacon for many years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Shari Nelson, Houston; two grandchildren, Kristina Nelson and Cory Nelson, both of Houston; a brother, Wesley Nelson, Rockdale Texas; and his stepmother, Marie Nelson, Rockdale, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
