Passing of Pioneer Resident

Mrs. C.C. Wilson died at her home last Friday, December 16th. She had been an invalid for a great many years and during the past few weeks had been confined to her bed and death was not unexpected.

Mrs. Wilson was a pioneer resident in Stafford County, having moved to the county with her husband and family in 1877, residing on a farm west of town until the family was grown. In 1899 they sold the farm and bought a home on West Broadway, at which she passed away.

Tressa Jane Potter was born in Putnam County, Indiana, Nov. 24, 1832, died Dec. 16, 1921 age 89 years and 22 days.

Early in life, she with her parents moved to Missouri, where she was united in marriage to Mr. C. C. Wilson and to this union was born seven children. One daughter Rachel, and two sons, William and Elbro, having preceded her in death.

At the age of nineteen she was converted and joined the Methodist church and was a faithful member until death.

She leaves her husband, two daughters--Mrs. Martha Burger, of Macksville, Kansas; Mrs. Mary Hicks, of San Francisco, California; two sons--Eli C. Wilson of Topeka, Kansas and Alfred S. Wilson, of Winfield, Kansas, besides nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her departure. The four above named children were here to attend the funeral.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 21st, at 2 o'clock at the residence, on account of Mr. Wilson's being ill and unable to leave his home. Rev S. W. Keller, pastor of the M. E. Church, assisted by her pastor, Rev. Guy E. Spear, conducted the services.

The remains were laid to rest in the Stafford Cemetery.
