COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 12/13/2005
MEINERS - Norma Jean, 75, of Louisville, entered eternal life on Monday, December 12, 2005, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, at Nazareth Home. She was the former Norma Reasor, an active member of St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, a graduate of St. Elizabeth School, Mercy Academy, and the University of Louisville. She was a loving wife and devoted mother of fifteen children and a retired school teacher dedicated to sharing her love with many children at St. Vincent DePaul and Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Schools. Our mother was a champion for life! She taught us that every single life is precious. She was the loving voice for those who couldn't speak for themselves, especially the unborn and the disabled. This was exemplified through her tireless efforts and support of the Kentucky Right to Life Association. She found the good in everyone and was always present to those in need. She was a gentle, compassionate woman who was devoted to the works of Jesus Christ and the Holy Catholic Church. She left a lasting impression on thousands of lives. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Gathon "Nick" Reasor, and her sister, Jody Reasor, a son, Dennis Meiners and grandson Kenneth Meiners. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Louis Melvin Meiners Sr.; and fourteen children, seven sons, Louis Jr. (Marie), Terry (Andrea), Tim "Dutch" (Cindy), Chris (Barbara), Greg (Kim), Mike (Angie) and Mark (Tracy); seven daughters, Maureen Williams (Greg), Denise Russell (Bob), Tina Meiners McCay (Terry), Colleen Milburn (Danny), Michele Renbarger (Tony), Lisa Rohleder (Nick) and Lynn Hesse (Bill). Other survivors include 46 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a multitude of other relatives and dear friends. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Thursday, December 15, 2005, at St. Stephen Martyr Church, 2931 Pindell Avenue, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. To honor our mother, we invite you to continue her legacy of love with a simple kindness to your neighbor. Expressions of appreciation may be made to the Kentucky Right to Life Association or Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Rd., Louisville, Ky. 40205.
