U.S. Senator. He attended East Corinth Academy, then engaged in the lumber business, built power plants and an electric railroad. He was a member of the Main State Senate, (1921-22) and elected as a Republican to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Bert M. Fernald, serving (1926-31). Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his former business interests and was president of the Aroostook Valley Railroad Company until his death at age 89.
