OBITUARY: Pioneer of Silverdale Died Yesterday P. M.

OBITUARY: Josephus Alsip, 83, of Silverdale, ten miles east of Arkansas City, well known here as one of the prosperous farmers of this locality, died yesterday afternoon at his home there. Mr. Alsip moved to Kansas from Maryland, where he was born. He came to this state in 1870 and lived in Silverdale township for 35 years.
He served in the Civil War from 1863 to 1865. He was married in 1866. The widow and eight children survive. The children are: Alice Lenhart,John Alsip, George Alsip, Kate Lenhart, Flossie, Dan and Ray Alsip andLillie Tousley, all of this location. Mr. Alsip wa a member of the United Brethren church for many years.
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon, at the residence. The Rev. E. C. Smith, pastor of the United Brethren church officiated. Burial was in the Silverdale cemetery. The Powell Mortuary was in charge.
