Artist. The youngest child of Rev. Cephas Washburn and Abigail Woodward, born November 17, 1831 at Dwight Mission to the Cherokee Indians in Indian Territory, north of present-day Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Edward was an artist whose best-known painting, "The Arkansas Traveller," painted circa 1855, was lithographed ten years after his death by Currier & Ives and received wide reception. Edward died having never married and nine days after his father's death. (bio by: Don Blauvelt)
