U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the New York Law School, in 1882, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Brooklyn, New York. In 1895, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and Fifty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1899. An unsuccessful candidate for election, he was active business pursuits and served as Secretary to the United States Senate, (1900-12). He then lived in retirement until his death at age 50.
