Olen P. Summerfield
Olen Pembern Summerfield, 87, of Pinch died Jan. 17, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, after a long illness.
He was a longtime resident of Kanawha County, formerly of Jackson and Roane counties, and was retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford glass plant with 45 years' service. After his retirement he was a security guard at the capital and St. Francis Hospital. He was a member of Libbey-Owens-Ford Retirees Club and member of AFL/CIO. He was co-founder of Harper-Summerfield Family Reunion and was a Protestant.
Surviving: daughter, Carol Fouty of Charleston; sons, Carl David of Pinch, William Michael of Harrisonburg, Va.; granddaughter whom he raised, Mary Catherine Summerfield of Pinch; great-grandson whom he raised, Jerry Alan Summerfield of Pinch; sister, Edith Thelma Summerfield Tuttle of Charleston; 12 additional grandchildren; 16 additional great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home, Elkview, with the Rev. Howard Morris officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Friends may call from noon until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to LOF Retirees Club, 501 Broad St., Charleston, W.Va. 25301.
