Thelma Gladys Adair was born in Pinetop, Arizona on March 18, 1910, and died as an infant only 6 months old. The cause of both Thelma and her older sister Olivia's death was uncertain to the physicians. However, it is believed to be what is now called Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), or crib death. Cynthia Jane went to feed them and discovered that they were not breathing.

Thelma was delivered by midwife Merintha Altheria Calaway Penrod 1872-1952. Meritha was married to Delbert Abraham Penrod, Thelma's grand-uncle.

Thelma Gladys Adair was blessed on 10 Apr 1910 by her grandfather, David Israel Penrod.
