Officer Henry Eichelberger was a Police Officier for the St. Louis Police Metropolitan Department.

On March 20 1955, around 12:01 AM, Officer Eichelberger was operating his police car and when he entered the intersection of Vandeventer and Easton Avenues, he was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident involving another vehicle driven by a Mr. Henry Black.

Officer Eichelberger was rushed to Alexian Brothers Hospital where he remained for treatment and was released.

He had seemingly recovered from his wounds and returned to duty. In late April he suddenly slipped from good health and later succumbed his injuries on May 2 1955. He died at 11:15 a.m.

The death certificate lists that died from Cardiac Hypertrophy, Cancer of the Colon, and a Subdural Hemorrhage.

Officer Eichelberger has been a Police Officer with the department for 41 years. He was 65 years of age.

Officer Eichelberger's father served with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

He left to mourn his passing his wife Mary C. (nee May) Eichelberger of the home at 4112 Humphrey Avenue, and a son Henry G. Eichelberger.

He was the son of Louis A. & Mary A.(nee Clark) Eichelberger.

The wake and funeral were held at the Weick Brothers Funeral Home located at 2201 South Grand Avenue.

Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery on 05/05/1955.
