Medieval English Clergyman. He entered into his service at St. Albans Abbey the age of sixteen year old. He was chosen to be abbot of this Benedictine Monastery in 1420. He attended the Council of Siena in 1423. His time was mainly occupied with lawsuits, several of which he defended the property of the Abbey and the enforcement of the rights of the Abbey. In 1440,he resigned his but in 1451, on the death of his successor John Stoke, he resumed the position of abbot; he was considered an energetic and successful abbot which greatly improved the buildings after the damage from the Wars of Roses; the first open conflict of the war was the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455. He also improved the buildings at Gloucester. He was an associate of of humanistic activities of Henry V, the youngest brother of Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester.
