Popular Young Matron Is Summoned
Mrs. C.D. Andrews Ill Five Days
Many Friends in Community Mourn Her Untimely Passing
Mrs. Janet Murray Andrews, wife of Carver Dana Andrews and one of the community's most popular young matrons, passed away at the family home 14516 Killion Street, Van Nuys, Tuesday afternoon following a brief illness.

Last Friday Mrs. Andrews contracted a cold which developed into pneumonia. Her death brought sorrow to this community where she had made many warm friends during her ten years residence.

She is survived by her husband, Carver Dana Andrews; a son David Murray; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Murray and a sister Mrs. Harold G. Laub.

The funeral service was held in the chapel of the Praiswater Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon conducted by Rev. David Farquharson, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Van Nuys.

Mrs. Andrews was born in Eldora, Iowa September 1, 1908 and came with her parents to Van Nuys about ten years ago. She graduated from Cumnock School for Girls in Los Angeles in 1926. She received her B.A. degree in English from the University of Southern California in 1930 and her M.A. degree in Journalism from Northwestern University in 1933.

At the University of Southern California Mrs. Andrews affiliated with Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Tick Tock a local campus organization and was a member of Theta Sigma Phi National Honorary Society at Northwestern University.

Mrs. Andrews was prominent in Van Nuys social and educational circles and was a member of Chapter AN, P.E.O. She was married to Carver Dana Andrews December 31, 1933.
