James E. Smalling,35,who.with his wife, Mrs Peggy Smalling formerly operated Peggy's Steak House, in Grandview,died of a fractured skull in a car crash near Webbtown(Macon Co),Tenn., at 12;30 A.m. Sunday September 23 1962.Funeral services for Mr. Smalling were conducted at 1:00 p. m.Tuesday at First Baptist Church here, the Rev. George B. Masters, and the Rev. Raymond Jones and the Rev Nobel Cottrell officiating.Beside his wife, he is survived by two children,Margaret Lynn and Mary Lana, and his mother,Mrs. Bevie Smalling, Tompkinsville.;three sisters,Mrs. Thomas Bray, of Alvaton, Mrs Lolus Comer of Gamaliel and Mrs Joe Napier,Celina, Tenn. Yokley Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.Two brothers,Jerry Smalling Gamaliel and Eugene Smalling,Red Boiling Springs, Tn.
