Singer, Songwriter. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a singer-songwriter, best known for his Grammy Award "Everybody's Talkin'" theme song from the movie "Midnight Cowboy" (1969). He began his career writing commercial jingles and pop tunes when he was signed to RCA Records in 1967. He released his first album "Spotlight on Nilsson" that same year followed by the script and hit single "Me and My Arrow", for the TV animated movie, "The Point" (1971). His other hit tunes included "Without You", "Remember", "Jump into the Fire", "Coconut" and "Best Friend" for the TV comedy series "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". For the remainder of the 1970s until his death, he remained active recording albums and writing movie scores. He died in Agoura Hills, California.
