U.S. Congressman. He graduated from University of Maryland and became a successful farmer and truck operator. He served in the Maryland State House of Delegates in 1931 and was president of the board of Baltimore County Commissioners, (1934-42). In 1943, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth and Seventy-ninth Congresses, serving until 1947. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his farming interest and was again president of the board of Baltimore County Commissioners, from 1950, until his death at age 58.
