Captain Robert. D. Graham Driven to Despondency by Ill Health - Died Few Moments After Being Picked Up in Street - Was Secretary Civil Service Commission

Washington, D.C., June 27.-
Captain Robert D. Graham, a lawyer 65 years old, who served in the Confederate army throughout the Civil war and the son of a former cabinet officer, leaped from the portion of a window of the sixth floor of an apartment house today and was so periously injured that he died a few minutes after being picked up. He had been ill for some time and it is thought that he became despondent.
Certificate of Suicide.
The coroner gave a certificate of death from suicide.
Captain Graham was a native of North Carolina and a son of William A. Graham, at one time governor of that State and secretary of the navy in the cabinet of Presidence Pierce.
The deceased was for three years secretary of the civil service commision during the first administration of President Cleveland. It is expected that the remains will be taken to North Carolina for interment.
