Mrs. Mary M. Darcy, 91, of Mazeppa, a longtime Bellechester resident, died Friday evening, September 29, at the Zumbrota Community Hospital. The former Mary Peters, daughter of Nickolas and Mary (Prom) Peters, was born April 22, 1887, in Wabasha County, and attended St. Mary's Catholic School. She married Edward Darcy September 8, 1908, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester, and the couple farmed the Darcy homestead near Bellechester. Mr. Darcy died in July of 1947. Mrs. Darcy left the farm in 1950 moving to Bellechester until January, 1976, when she moved to the Conrad Hofschulte home in Mazeppa where she resided until her death. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and of the Altar Society. Survivors include three sons, Lawrence and Edwin, both of Mazeppa, and Joseph, of Minneapolis; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ornstein, Minneapolis, Mrs. Conrad (Gertrude) Hofschulte, Mazeppa, Mrs. Norbert (Rosella) Riley, Hammond, and Mrs. Byron (Margaret) Nevinger of Los Angeles, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Peters and Mrs. Joseph (Susan) Delva, both of Bellechester. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and infant Vincent, three brothers and three sisters. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bellechester, with the Rev. Fr. George Kinney officiating. Interment was in the Bellechester cemetery. Prayer service and rosary by the Altar Society was recited Sunday evening at Larson Funeral Home, Zumbrota. Pallbearers were Daniel Riley, Edward Riley, Michael Ornstein, David Darcy, Mark Darcy, and Dennis Berg. Altar boys were Brian and Jeff Darcy, and Peter Poncelet.
