Thomas Logan was the Sheriff of Nye County, Nevada. He served 8 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 44. A Saloon Matron in Manhatten, Nevada was being harrassed by a drunk gambler inside the establishment. Sheriff Logan rushed to her aid and tried ejecting the man from the Saloon. The man pulled out a gun and shot him five times. Although he was mortally wounded, he was able to subdue the man until a deputy arrived at the scene. The suspect was tried, but acquitted of his murder. Sheriff Logan had been serving his third term as Sheriff. He was survived by his wife and eight children. One of his children was Hazel Margaret Logan (1891-1974.) 87 when she died.
