US Congressman. He was a practicing dentist when elected a member of the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, serving from 1920 to 1922. In 1935 he relocated to Louisiana and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1948. In 1953, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-third, Eighty-fourth, and Eighty-fifth Congresses and served until his death. US Senator and Governor of Louisiana Huey Pierce Long, was his brother as was Governor Earl Kemp Long.
