Orville Dean Ardoin, 71, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette. Mr. Ardoin was born September 7, 1936. He was a native of Basile, Louisiana and was a long-time resident of Lafayette. Orville graduated from Basile High School in 1954, and S.L.I., now U.L.L., in 1958 with a degree in Geology. He worked for various oil-related companies until Conoco, where he was employed for 31 years and worked in Dubai, Holland and Jakarta, Indonesia. Orville was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Orville leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Jeanette Darbonne Ardoin; two daughters, Angela Gaspard and her husband Richie, of Eunice, and Lydia Cutchens and her husband Johnnie, of Conway, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Laura Ardoin, of Lafayette; one brother Joseph C. Ardoin and his wife Beverly, of Lafayette; three grandsons; and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elridge Ardoin, of Basile, Louisiana, and the former Elmae LeJeune, of Iota, Louisiana, and his son Brice Ardoin.
